There are many different ways that you can make a difference. These are the roles that we have available within our organization. The time commitments listed are the minimum required. Advocacy Team
Position: Advocate
Description: This individual will meet with new refugee families and complete initial and periodic needs assessments. They will collaborate with other volunteers to see that they are matched to applicable resources such as the DI Coordinator, Storehouse Manager, Financial Literacy Coordinator, or a Health and Wellness Coordinator in order to provide wrap-around support for refugees as they identify their barriers to self-reliance. This individual will help answer refugee’s questions, listen to concerns, and guide them through the process of cultural integration to ensure they have the support they need.
Time Commitment: Eight hours once a month. Six-month Commitment.

Home Goods Resource Team
Position: Deseret Industries Coordinator
Description: This individual will help refugees obtain needed furniture, household items, and clothing from Deseret Industries. This involves meeting refugees at the DI and assisting them as they choose needed items, teaching women who have never shopped before learn how to keep track of costs and stay within a given budget, and coordinating delivery for large furniture items.
Time Commitment: Eight hours once a month. Three-month Commitment.

Public Affairs/ Research Team
Position: Researcher
Description: This individual will research existing resources to help refugee families with rental assistance, employment searching, legal questions, domestic violence protection information, and other needs as they arise.
Time Commitment: Once hour once a week. Six-month Commitment.

Cultural Liason Team
Position: Cultural Liaison
Description: This individual represents the demographics we serve and helps all involved understand the cultures in which we serve.
Time Commitment: One hour once a month. Six-month Commitment.

English Circles Team
Position: English Mentor
Description: Volunteer to help an immigrant/ refugee woman speak conversational English virtually. No lessons or training needed, just a friend talking to a friend and teaching English skills along the way. Great opportunity for teenagers on up!
Time Commitment: Once a week for twenty minutes. Three-month Commitment.

Health and Wellness Team
Position: Health and Wellness Coordinator
Description: Provide health education to refugees and advocate for them as they address their physiological and psychological needs
Time Commitment: Four hours once a month. Six-month Commitment.

Financial Literacy Team
Position: Financial Literacy Coordinator
Description: Educate clients on how to build a budget, build credit, and save.
Time Commitment: Four hours once a month. Six-month Commitment.

Driving Mentor Team
Position: Driving Lesson Coordinator
Description: Practice driving with an immigrant/refugee woman who has obtained her driving permit
Time Commitment: Four hours once a week. Three-month Commitment.
